Tata Nano plant in Sanand
Once the tata motors plant moved out of Singur, Gujarat turned out to be the lucky recipient. Sanand is located at a distance of 40kms from Ahmedabad. The sanand Tata Nano plant was chosen in this location because of the close proximity of the place from ports like Rajkot as well as Mundra. Since most of the transportation of parts and components takes place through the sea, a port being close to the manufacturing plant certainly has its advantages.
Gujarat as a state has always been pro active and pro businesses and hence the chief minister of the state Mr. Narendra Modi made sure that Gujarat gave approval to the Tata motors factory quickly and bagged the project. After the singur controversy, Ratan Tata had indicated that the Tata Motors factory could move to the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka or Gujarat but it was finally the state of Gujarat which won the contest of hosting the Tata Motors factory from which the Tata Nano would roll out.
Sanand, did not have any problems related to agrarian land like Singur and hence Ratan Tata was ready to set up a plant there. The work in the Tata motors plant in Sanand has just begun and the first batch of Tata nano’s is expected to roll out from there in the beginning of year 2010. Till then the work on the Nano’s will be carried out at the tata motors plant situated in Pune and Pant Nagar.
