Ratan Tata:

The person who can be regarded as the pioneer or the entire Tata Nano project is Ratan tata, chairman of Tata sons. It was Ratan Tata’s dream and inspiring vision that there should be a car in India which every one can afford. And then the concept of the Tata Nano came about. Ratan Tata is the grandson of Shri Jamshedji Tata who started the Tata group. The Tata group was expanded by generations to come. And Ratan Tata is the present head of that group.

Ratan Tata had joined the Tata group way back in 1962. In the year 1991 he took over as Chairman of the Tata group ushering a newer generation and a new approach. Under Ratan Tata’s guidance the company has gone from strength to strength and the cheapest car in the world could not have been complete without him.

Girish Wagh:

Girish Wagh can be regarded by many as the man behind the Tata Nano. A mechanical engineer from the Maharashtra institute of technology and an alumnus of SP Jain institute of management and research, Girish joined the company sixteen years back. In the year 2005, Wagh was moved to the Nano division where the car was at the beginning of its conceptual stage.

All that the team had was a cost target in mind and that they had to build a real car with in that budget. Girish heads a team of more than five hundred men in his division and can be regarded as the designer who has designed the world’s cheapest car.
